Sharing is Caring

I LOVE when people share funny videos or photos via email.

My cousin is always sending me the funniest or coolest or strangest forwards, and i delight in every single one of them.

Its amazing how a 5 second video can make your day.

Especially when they are videos like the ones i posted below. I think the people in the videos are probably way more grateful for the 5 seconds than i am. Check it out...

Those lucky ducks!!!

After watching these videos I feel lucky to say my closest call as of late was dashing to class this morning to turn in that gosh darn research paper!

OBSESSED

Have you seen Hunger Games yet? If not, don’t read this post because I just might make your expectations ridiculously high.

I LOVED it. I’ve seen it twice now and still have no complaints. The weird thing is, I don’t know why I love it so much it because it is sooooo twisted. I knew how disturbing it was when I read the book, but seeing the story on the big screen made it more real. The concept of the whole entire plot is well, sick and wrong. And for some strange reason I love love love it, can’t get enough of it.

They couldn’t have picked a more perfect cast; they couldn’t have done a better job following the book; the soundtrack music was incredible; and I have to say that while I was team Peeta in the books, I am team Gale in the movies. If you’ve seen the movie you probably understand my logic :)

Anyway.

The Hunger Games far exceeded my expectations.

Go see it!

thank you technology

Sometimes I don’t like living in a media saturated world…

The other day I was walking on campus and I saw three girls walking together, each furiously texting away on their cell phones. Clearly whoever they were each talking to on their phones made for better company than each other. So why were they even bothering to walk together?

Other times, I LOVE living in a media saturated world…

Like yesterday. My sister lives in New York and she had a baby. I was able to see pictures just moments after the birth. How incredible is that? Her little guy is sooooo cute! I can’t wait to see him in person. Thanks to all this great technology these days, I can show him off like the proud aunt I am. Take a look…

So thank you technology for briefly making NY seem a little closer than it really is.

KONY

If you haven't seen this already, you should definitely check it out. I promise its worth all 29 minutes!

I know we talked a lot in lecture about the negative impacts of Facebook; but i think this is one darn good reason why Facebook can be incredibly powerful and influential in a good way.

{how old is your soul}

Jason Mraz is, well, wonderful. His songs are dripping with musical genius that dare i say, **change my life.

I can't get enough of this particular song....

I think I've listened to this song or watched the music video everyday for at least a month. Obsessive? maybe. Worth it? totally.

My boyfriend makes fun of the part when the gospel chorus comes in, but that particular section gives me goosebumps the size of mountains every time i hear it. Oh man, what I would give for such a crystal clear voice! I guess I'll continue to live vicariously through artists like Jason Mraz...

Ps. if you decided to skip watching the video and just read what I wrote...you should seriously reconsider. I'm telling you--its
amazing.

*if you haven't learned from previous posts on this blog or my other blog...i tend to sound like a bit of a drama queen. But let me tell you a secret: i mean every little word i write!

yikes!

This week we had a lecture in class about fear in the media. And let me tell you something...

I hate scary movies.

There is nothing fun about being on the edge of your seat

Why would i want to be paranoid about taking baths or babysitting?

There is nothing uplifting about creepy music

Even if you do have a cute boy to hold onto, nothing provides enough comfort to keep you from being terrified out of your mind

Why would I want nightmares gracing my dreams on a nightly basis for a month?

Why would i want to jump 5 feet in the air every time i hear a loud noise or a phone ringing?

In what world would I want goosebumps on my arm for 2 hours straight?

Why would i want to watch a movie where my hands have to be in a close enough proximity to cover my eyes in a split second?

Who wants to watch someone hallucinate or get chased or shot or be followed on a dark trail?

Have i made myself clear?

haha.

Maybe i just don't like scary movies because I'm not brave enough to handle them...

but either way, i think i will stick with movie genres that don't leave me feeling disturbed for the next decade.

get out of my living room!

I am currently watching Indiana Jones on a High Definition/3D television. And do you know what? I hate it. Okay maybe hate is a strong word, but it’s totally trippy! Earlier today I watched “Swiss Family Robinson”…ya know that movie made back in the 60’s (aka a looooooong time ago)? Well I watched it today and it looked as though it was made in the past couple years. It was so bizarre. You’re probably wondering why I think this is a bad thing, huh? The picture on HD/3D television looks so real it’s creepy. Its like, “Hi Harrison Ford, welcome to my living room”. As attractive as that man is, I think I prefer him and his action buddies to stay in the television where they belong!

palm pixi

I have never been a gung-ho-lovey-dovey-give-me –flowers-and-teddy-bears Valentine’s Day fan. BUT for the first time in my life I have been counting down to Valentine’s Day since practically November. Every day for the past couple months I’ve opened my planner and flipped to see how many pages left until February 14th—10 pages…5….3…1…ah! Finally, February 14th came. I bet you are wondering why I have been anxiously awaiting the so-called holiday that I usually want nothing to do with, huh? Well, let me tell you: It’s because I had tickets to the Lady Antebellum concert. Not just tickets…AMAZING tickets! I was 10 feet from the stage. Ah!!!! It was the best. Night. Ever.

Let’s rewind a little bit to the beginning of the evening. When my date and I were walking in I handed over my purse to security for inspection. To my dismay, the security guard grumpily exclaimed that my camera was not allowed in the arena (gosh, I knew I should have headed to that nice grandpa looking security guard—he would have let me in for sure)…gasp! How dare they? It was very unfortunate. So my date took my camera back to the vehicle and I sadly went in to the arena empty handed. But wait! This story does not have a sad ending. Thank goodness for phones! My handy dandy little palm pixi of a cell phone in my front right pocket yet again pulled me out of a tight spot . Thanks to my trusty cell phone (and my date's cell phone) I was able to document a few moments from the evening.

What would we do without cell phones?

the ledge of my seat

This past week I went and saw the film “Man on a Ledge”. And to use my dad’s oh-so-ridiculous pun, it had me hanging on the ledge of my seat the whole time! My expectations were not super high because the movie didn’t get the greatest reviews but after seeing said movie, I think it is safe to come to the conclusion that the movie critics were wrong. In fact they are always wrong. Maybe I am just easy to please but I have like almost every movie that the critics destroy. Anyway, back to the point of this post…

The movie was awesome—slightly unbelievable but totally intense. I don’t think I took a normal breath once throughout the film and when the credits finally rolled I was on the verge of an anxiety attack. Mind you, the smallest of things can give me an anxiety attack but this movie was pretty dang suspenseful! The plot was unpredictable and the overall the cast was great.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Problem solved. "Man on a Ledge" is calling your name!

Super Bowl

I LOVE the Super Bowl. Family, food, and football...it doesn't get much better than that.

Actually it does. I would argue that the very best part of the Super Bowl is watching the commercials. While i wasn't super impressed this year there were a few that had me laughing out loud. Here are couple of my favorites:

and...

Goooooo Giants!

...at last i see the light

Well, it looks like Dr. Coyne beat me to my genius blog post idea this week…aka Tangled! I watched that movie last weekend and I think it is safe to say I like it more every time I watch it. The movie is pure genius. I want magic hair and I want to see the floating lanterns. And has anyone else ever coveted the over-sized princess eyes present in every Disney movie? Well I have…until I picture what eyes the size of eggs would look like in real life…yikes! Perhaps is it better they remain cartoon.

If you haven’t seen the movie I would check to make sure you aren’t living under a rock. HA! Joke. What I mean is, if you haven’t seen the movie, watch it. You will LOVE it.

Gone with the Wind

I'm a book worm...born a book worm, raised a book worm. When i was little my mom used to punish my brother and I not by making us read, but instead by taking our books away. Crazy, I know.

For as long as i can remember I have been drawn to the written word. There is just something about losing yourself in a good novel; or putting yourself in the shoes of a character found on the pages of a new book;or getting confused between which plot is your life and which plot belongs to the book you are engrossed in; or learning and using a new word found in your most recent read; or reading slower with every page so the story doesn't end; or filling in the blanks an author left out; or crying and laughing with the protagonist; or reading into the wee hours of the night, eyes burning, refusing to shut.

I think you get the picture--i LOVE to read. My all time favorite book that i just can't get enough of is "Gone with the Wind". I have read it over and over again, loving it more with every single read.

Scarlett O'Hara changed my life and I am secretly (and openly) in love with Rhett Butler, haha. Read it...i promise you won't regret it. It is one of the most beautiful novels of all time.

Yee-Haw

Born in Oregon and raised in SLC, i have zero reason to claim the title of "country girl"; but when it comes to music, I am just that: a country girl. I can't get enough of it. Who cares if every song is about break-ups, make-ups, and an old dog here and there. Its the best and i could listen to it forever. Here is my current favorite country song...

The Band Perry is quite simply, pure genius.

Yu-um

My very favorite thing about the glorious and ever popular world wide web is the access it gives me to food blogs. I'm seriously obsessed. It is not an uncommon occurrence for my roommates to walk in on me staring open-mouthed at my computer screen drooling over the latest and greatest recipes posted only minutes ago. Once i finally retreat from my food trance and clean up the mess of drool i just made all over my key board, i'll write down my favorite recipe and give it a whirl. Due to Provo's complete lack of ovens that actually work and my ridiculous ability to follow a recipe, I've definitely had a few disasters but overall, said food blogs have changed my life! My favorite one as of late is Picky Palate. Check it out...

Happy blogging stalking and baking!!

{Delta's Mascot}

If you have ever flown Delta you probably recognize this woman.

I recently returned home from New York and had the pleasure of viewing the safety procedures video shown before each flight, twice. Lucky me.

As I viewed the familiar instructions and watched the infamous redheaded, high cheek boned, Delta flight attendant, I thought about how many people in the world have seen this woman’s face. I think it’s safe to say millions, yes?

That is nuts.

You would have to pay me a whooooole lot of money to appear before every single Delta takeoff, reciting cheesy instructions whilst shaking my finger and delivering lines like “not allowed”.

Bless this Deltalina’s heart. She is saving passengers all around the world, one playful wag of the finger, at a time.
